The Hospice League, our all-volunteer fundraising wing, has been working since 1989 to raise the funds to build and operate the Hospice Home.  Led by the 2004 National Hospice Volunteer of the Year, Faye Boswell, the League has over 500 members and holds major events throughout the year.  Whatever your skill or interest may be – from building sets at the Gala to greeting golfers at the annual Golf Classic to volunteering at our new Hospice Flea Market Store – there’s an opportunity for everyone to help out, have fun, and raise money for a great cause.

The Hospice Flea Market Store

To open December of 2010, we are working hard to setup the NEW Hospice Flea Market Store to be located in the former Winn-Dixie building in The Village Markeplace on North Church Street in Burlington. The 50,000 square foot facility will be even better than shopping at the original flea market because you can enjoy great prices and a wide selection of merchandise year-round! Everything will be sparkling clean, freshly laundered and ready for purchasing. We plan to display the same items such as, furniture, appliances, toys, linens, dishes, etc. Watch for the ads on our Grand Opening

The Annual Golf Classic
Held each May at the Robert Trent Jones-designed Alamance Country Club, this is the premiere golf tournament in the area.  From great golfing to great food to great giveaways to great prizes, this tournament is first class!  Volunteer needs:  sales of team and tee sponsorships, set up on the tournament day, seeking donations for the door prizes, or just buy a team and play!  Call 336-532-0197 for more information.

The Hospice League Clothing Store
This year-round store in one of the area’s premier shopping centers features the best of the best:  up-to-date, like new men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories.  Don’t be fooled – our merchandise truly is like new, displayed professionally and priced to sell.  And watch for our store manager’s blow-out sales!  Located at the Burlington Outlet Village (formerly BMOC) in Burlington at exit 145 off the interstate, this is a don’t miss opportunity to get great clothes at a great bargain and help a great cause.  The store is open on Thursday – Saturday from 10 to 5.  Volunteer needs:  sorting, displaying, cashier, or just donating your clothes!  Call 336-532-0197 for more information.

Annual Luminary Display
Celebrate the meaning of the season with our annual luminary lighting at the Hospice Home and office.  Over 1,000 luminaries grace our grounds every December as we remember those who have passed away in a display of light and love.  Volunteer needs:  luminary set-up and break-down, helping at the opening night festivities.  Call 336-532-0197 to help or to purchase a luminary.
