As you first drive past the peaceful pond and stately oaks, you’ll feel welcomed at the Hospice Home, our 16 bed facility for hospice patients. From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel the compassion and warmth. Since 1994, we’ve provided loving end-of-life care to hundreds of area residents and comfort to their families. With private rooms offering around-the-clock nursing, counseling, and personal care services, the Hospice Home is a unique community resource. Small wonder that it’s called “The Home that Admission to the Hospice Home
Hospice Home Services The Hospice Home provides around-the-clock nursing, nurse assistant and personal care services. In addition, our on-site social worker and chaplain are available to provide counseling, emotional and spiritual comfort, and other services for patients and their families. We also offer specially-trained volunteers for friendly visits and support. When medically appropriate, physical therapy is available, and integrative therapies such as Healing Touch, pet therapy, music therapy and aromatherapy are offered. Our medical director or his colleagues visit the Hospice Home daily, assuring expert symptom control and medical management. Three meals a day are offered under the supervision of a registered dietician as well as snacks when desired. Cable TV is also provided. Smoking is not permitted in the Hospice Home. Patient’s families are welcome to escort their loved ones outside to smoke; we have limited assistance available to supervise patients smoking. Our Funding We rely on community support through the Hospice League and the generous donations of our patients, families and the general public to operate the Hospice Home. The Hospice League, the only all-volunteer hospice fundraising wing in the nation, includes hundreds of volunteers who stage annual fundraisers for the Hospice Home, including the Giant Flea Market, the Hospice Golf Classic and the Heart of Winter Gala. Our volunteer-run clothing store is also operated year-round at BMOC. Click here for more information about the Hospice League. The Hospice Home is a very expensive service to provide. All patients and their families are asked to pay what they can to help cover the costs of their care. In addition, some health insurance plans provide limited reimbursement for our care. For those patients with health insurance, we seek payment from their insurers.
