Bereavement, grief and the experience of loss is a fundamental part of the nature of hospice care. Whether it’s consoling a loved one, leading a support group, conducting a memorial service, lending a book from our library or other service, our intent is to help any person in our community deal with the loss of a loved one. There’s never a charge for our bereavement services – we’re here to care.
Among the comprehensive bereavement services we offer are:
- Visits, phone calls and on-site counseling to family members of hospice patients for up to a year after their loved one’s death
- Ongoing support groups for people experiencing loss, available to any person in our community. Click here for more information about current groups
- An extensive, free lending library with books on grief, mourning and loss; and pamphlets and brochures to keep on grief-related issues
- Mailings including a compilation of materials designed to help people reconcile themselves to their loved one’s death
- Annual memorial services in Alamance and Caswell counties
- Special “surviving the holidays” workshops for children and adults

- Community grief services including periodic counseling services to people experiencing loss, crisis response to traumatic community events, and counseling to children and their families dealing with the loss of a loved one
- Resource referrals to community services as needed
